Backyard cookout season is here. Make these delicious and flavorful homemade Sloppy Joe’s. They’re super easy to make and always a big hit with a crowd. Today I’m sharing French’s® in my life as part of a sponsored series for Socialstars™ #FrenchsCrowd #FrenchsMustard
Summer is here and so is backyard cookout season! One of my favorite flavorful cookout dishes to serve is homemade Sloppy Joe’s. They’re super easy to make and always a big hit with a crowd.
I recently amped up my Sloppy Joe’s recipe with French’s Tomato Ketchup and French’s Spicy Brown Mustard, and I have to humbly say that this was my best batch of Sloppy Joe’s ever! The French’s Spicy Brown Mustard lends a ton of flavor to these sandwiches, with a kick that goes way beyond French’s Classic Yellow mustard. I also love that the French’s Tomato Ketchup in this dish has the great flavor of U.S. farm-grown tomatoes and it’s from high fructose corn syrup, preservatives, artificial flavors & colors and gluten.
I even made an extra batch to freeze before our brand new baby arrived last week so I’d have delicious homemade food stocked in my freezer. This recipe definitely freezes well and tasted amazing once it was defrosted, as well.
Are you ready to take your cookout cuisine to the next level of deliciousness? Here’s what you’ll need to get started on your homemade Sloppy Joe’s recipe…
Homemade Sloppy Joe’s Recipe
INGREDIENTS
1 tsp olive oil
1/2 yellow onion (diced)
2 garlic cloves (minced)
dash salt and pepper
2 lbs ground beef
For the sauce:
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup French’s Tomato Ketchup
1 tbsp French’s Spicy Brown Mustard
2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 pepper
INSTRUCTIONS
First, in a medium pot over medium-high heat, heat olive oil, onion, garlic, salt and pepper until onions are translucent.
Add in ground beef and saute until meat is brown. Now, drain the excess fat from the meat. Remove from heat, but leave ground beef in the pot.
In a separate bowl, mix together all ingredients for the Sloppy Joe’s sauce until well combined.
Pour sauce over the meat and mix together until all meat is well coated in the sauce.
Serve on a hamburger bun topped with a slice of cheese if you’d like. Don’t forget a side of baked beans, a pickle, or whatever your favorite barbecue side dish may be.
