Recently, I noticed that there was a dried drip mark from food on the inside of the glass door of my oven. Actually, it wasn’t exactly on the inside, but rather stuck in between the glass window panels of the oven door.
I tried to figure out a way to get in there to clean the oven glass, because it was really bugging me to have a clean kitchen EXCEPT for this one stubborn food drip stuck right in between the oven glass!!
I’ve seen some tutorials to clean in between the glass oven door that suggest that you should remove the screws from the door, and basically take the oven apart. That isn’t for me. I didn’t want to risk ruining my oven or voiding the warranty by taking the glass door apart. I needed something more simple than using tools.
I also didn’t want to call a repair person, since that would most likely cost a hefty repair fee.
So, I figured out that there’s actually a sneaky little opening underneath the oven drawer that leads up into the glass!! This was a much better solution that was pretty much FREE to do! Woohoo!
Armed with a simple coat hanger and some regular household cleaning supplies, I was able to fix the problem quickly and without paying someone else to do it! YAY.
Here’s how I was able to easily clean the dried food from in between the glass oven door / window / whatever you want to call it:
Best Oven Cleaning Hack Ever: How to Clean the Oven Glass Door
First, I pulled the wire hanger apart and bended it into a straight piece of metal. To use it to clean the oven, I needed it to be able to fit easily up inside of the hole under the oven door.
Then, I rigged it with a hair tie rubber band, and some tape. I needed something that could easily cut through the baked on grease inside of the glass oven door. So, I attached a cleaning wipe to the end of the wire.
I located the opening under the door (you have to open the drawer for to find it!) Then, inserted the homemade oven cleaner thing I made!
After I scrubbed the baked on food and grease that was stuck inside of the glass oven door, I noticed that the wipe left behind some lint. UGH.
So, my next step was to remove the lint. I wanted to use a basic scrubbing kitchen sponge to clean away the rest of the lint and food debris that was stuck in between the oven door. In order for it to fit into the opening under the door, I had to cut it to fit (the hols is kind of small!)
I got another hanger, and attached a a skinny slice of sponge that I cut to fit the opening. I wet the sponge with warm water and sprayed it with some regular Windex glass cleaner.
This did the trick!! My oven is now super duper clean and shiny!! No more dried on, baked on, food residue drippings stuck in between my oven glass doors!!
(I found a similar tutorial on Pinterest, from Ask Anna, which originally inspired me to clean the food stuck in between my oven glass. However, after trying it, I needed to add the sponge part because using only wipes left lint behind.)
